THE PHONE BUZZED AGAIN
Maya turned her phone toward Ben. Another alert. Another confident take. The kind of headline that makes sitting still feel like missing out.
“Everyone is talking about it.”
Ben did not ask what she planned to buy. He asked: “What are they actually saying?”
She started with the headline. Then a comment from someone she followed. Then an interpretation of that comment.
An opinion about the fact.
A reason to act?
Those are three different things.
The pressure had arrived before the explanation. Not because Maya was foolish. Because a stream of confident opinions can make a question feel already settled.
She lowered the phone. “What changed beyond the headline?”
Give the story
a second sentence.
What is confirmed? What is someone’s interpretation? What remains unknown? Those questions do not tell you which trade to make. They give you a way to read the conversation before deciding what you think.
